INTERSECTION AT NIGHT (WALKING WITH HUGO) I've always loved both alternate surfaces and the fantastic work of Brooklyn, NY artist Hugo McCloud. This work is based on a photo I took of a Vancouver intersection in the rain, using an art school assignment to delve into McCloud's technique using paint, metal, solder and palette knives. As a silversmith and jewelry-maker, metal shows up frequently in my art practice. I love its sheen and colours, and how it has an extra dimension as a surface when painted.
